MOSCOW, Jan 25 (PRIME) -- Eni’s drilling works in the Black Sea jointly with Russian oil major Rosneft are going according to the plan, Emma Marcegaglia, chairwoman of Eni’s board of directors told PRIME late on Wednesday, when she said at the World Economic Forum that Eni suspended drilling because of fears of new U.S. sanctions.
“I would like to make it clear that drilling of a well in the Black Sea is going on as planned. I wanted to say that we are constantly keeping track of our activity so that it complies with existing sanctions,” Marcegaglia said.
Rosneft press secretary Mikhail Leontyev said that there were no reasons to suspend drilling and it continuned.
Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin said in December 2017 that Rosneft and Eni started drilling a well at a block in the Black Sea.
